Shortening of TLS and Code Signing Certificate Validity from 24.2.2026

(23.1.2026) The day 24. 2. 2026 is a milestone for digital certificates - not only is their validity being shortened to 199 days, but also further changes to the principles of validation and the validity of active validation are being made. Familiarize yourself with all the changes.

What changes from 24. 2. 2026?

From this day, the following changes affecting certificate issuance will take place.

  • Transition to 199-day valid public TLS certificates
  • Shortening of the domain validation reuse period to 199 days
  • Shortening of the organization validation reuse period for public OV TLS certificates to 397 days
  • Transition to 459-day valid public code signing certificates
  • Enforcement of MPIC confirmation using three remote locations from two different regions
  • DNSSEC validation during domain control ownership verification and performing CAA checks

For customers, the most important change is the shortening of the validity of TLS and Code Signing certificates. It's good to be aware that the intervals for domain and organization validation will also gradually shorten alongside certificate validity.
